Safety Awareness Solutions

I was Buried Alive and Survived

Construction worker Eric Giguere tells the story of how he was buried alive while working in a trench. He explains the circumstances and events surrounding his accident and the profound effects it has had on him and his family. Eric speaks from the heart with a desire for you to learn from his death-defying safety message. He has a genuine approach and his presentation's intent is to prevent his experience from ever happening to anyone.

Eric has travelled the country to share his safety message and make sure the arrogance he had toward safety doesn't become yours. Notably, Eric has spoken at the VPPPA National Conference and the NSC Congress & Expo.

Believe in Safety

Brandon Schroeder has been an electrician for nearly 20 years. On August 24, 2011, he survived an arc flash explosion that without a doubt should have killed him. Listen to Brandon as he recounts the tragic day that nearly took his life. He discusses the contributing factors that lead up to his horrific incident, how it all could have been avoided, and what fellow electricians need to do to protect themselves from these real world dangers. Brandon will also go over the small decisions you make every day that can significantly impact your life. These decisions take place at home and on the jobsite. Brandon will discuss how these decisions affected him and everyone around him, leaving the audience with a stronger understanding and respect for doing the job both safely and correctly.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS

This session will cover the new OSHA crystalline silica regulations in both the construction and general/maritime industries. We will also cover silica exposures and controls on the jobsite, go over an exposure control plan, and discuss additional resources and assistance.

This session will cover the basic awareness, prevention controls, and regulatory direction and prevention of dropped objects at heights. We will also discuss various applications and fall hazards in the workplace and engineered fall protection solutions to minimize these hazards.

This session will review OSHA's new regulations on record-keeping, reporting, and incentive programs that took effect on November 1, 2016. We will also review 2017 regional and national emphasis programs.

Is that what your employees are thinking? Delivering interesting, entertaining and effective safety training and meetings throughout the year can be very difficult. In many cases, the people responsible for communicating the safety material have never been trained in public speaking, adult education or communications. This workshop will guide you through training pitfalls and give you several ideas that you will be able to use to immediately impact your safety meetings.

This session celebrates those responsible for the safety of others and reminds them of the profound effect they have on people's lives. Just like George Baily and that Savings and Loan - YOU make a difference! We will address some of the most critical ingredients to successfully changing behaviors and culture. If your batteries could use a recharge - this fun, interactive and upbeat session is for you!

This session will break down the cutting edge technology that is being used within different industries to keep workers safe. We will explain the latest technologies and how they are changing the way we communicate and work to keep our employees as safe as possible.

This class is designed to meet the requirements of OSHA 1910.120 standards, where the annual refresher is desired. Topics to be refreshed are those included under the 24-hour course.

*Written testing is required to gain certification. Certification expires 12-months after issue.

Who should attend? Employees who are on facility emergency response teams, first aid providers, first responders or anyone with an interest in basic life saving techniques.

This National Safety Council (NSC) certification class will provide the student with valuable lifesaving techniques including how to identify emergency situations, accessing emergency services, protecting themselves from hazards and communicable diseases, rescue breathing, chest compressions and the use of AED's. AED's are portable devices used when a person's heart has stopped. It will deliver electrical current, under proper conditions, to the stopped heart in an attempt to restore it to an acceptable beat.

*Written and practical testing is required to gain certification. Attendance is mandatory for the complete course.
**No-shows and cancellations will be charged full price unless a 5 day advance notice is received.

AUGUST 9th

This 4 hour Fall Protection Equipment Inspection Course is designed for those needing to inspect the equipment prior to issuing to the users and those responsible for the annual inspecting of personal fall arrest systems. The training provides experience, methodology, and an in-depth look at all ANSI standards and OSHA regulations covering inspection of personal fall arrest systems. This program goes over the Competent Inspector definition and requirements, the inspection pass/fail criteria (ANSI, CSA, OSHA), inspection procedures, and hands-on practical exercises.

Are you in compliance with the NEW OSHA Respirable Silica Standard? (29 CFR 1926.1153). OSHA has published the new Silica rule which took effect on June 23, 2016. OSHA has announced an enforcement date for Construction of September 23, 2017 and General Industry and maritime has until June 23, 2018. A key requirement of the standard is for each employer to designate a Respirable Silica COmpetent Person. Upon completion of the class, the student will be prepared to address the technical aspects of the Competent Peson role. The employer is responsible for providing the COmpetent Person the authority to address concerns and take effective actions in the workplace, This technical knowledge combined with the authority to take corrective action meets OSHA's definition of a competent person.

This program addresses what most companies are suffering with; an ineffective or absent safety culture. Often, we as safety professionals know where we want to take our safety culture, but what we lack are effective plans to get us there. It often results in a "Pie in the sky" ordeal or quickly fades away as another "Flavor of the day" failure with meager results. This session utilizes the proven Safe 4 the Right Reasons program as the foundation to build from by creating a legacy message that companies can use in all aspects of their daily, weekly and monthly operations. The key components to an Effective Safety Culture will be addressed by incorporating all levels of management, including our strongest link, supervision, to make this program successful.
