National Safety Stand Down
Falls from heights are a serious concern in all industries, but especially in the construction industry. In construction, fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 370 of the 991 preventable construction fatalities recorded in 2016. The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries among all workers.
2018 marks the 5th year of the National Stand Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, and is celebrated May 7-11th. The National Campaign to Prevent Falls in Construction was launched on April 26, 2012, and encourages everyone in the construction industry to work safely, use the right equipment and train to prevent falls.
The Campaign recommends a variety of ideas to reach construction employers and workers with three main goals:
- Employers and workers should plan together before every job to work safely at heights.
- Employers must provide the right equipment for working at heights, and workers need to use that equipment.
- Workers need to be trained to use fall protection equipment and to work safely.
DiVal Safety offers training on fall protection, and fall protection equipment inspection along with the supplies you need to keep your workers safe at heights on the job. Give us a call at 1-800-343-1354.
